Australian Amateur Boxing Titles 2007

                                         held in Darwin Brisbane- a great success to all involved

The Australian Titles were held in Brisbane in December 2007.  The NT participated with 5 boxers, 2 coaches and 3 officials.  Boxers who participated were

Malaki Shepherd - 48kg

Malaki is from Katherine this was his first Nationals.  He won a silver medal, having a bye in his division and going straight to the final.  Malaki has been invited to participate in the National Talent Identification and Development program being held at the AIS.

Craig Neave - 69kg

Craig is from the Taminmin Boxing Club and had only recently returned to training.  Craig also received a bye and went straight to the final, winning a silver medal.

Josh Thompson - 60kg

Josh won his quarter final bout on points beating a SA opponent.  He was then beaten in the next bout, lost on points.  This was his first Nationals and he did very well.  He has been highlighted as a possible to attend the National Talent Identification and Development program if a vacany comes up.  Good Luck Josh

Dillion Saunders - 60kg

Dillion trained very hard prior to the Australian Titles.  Dillion lost his first bout but gained valueable experience for future contests.

Sam Woods - 81kg

Sam was unfortunate with an old injury leading him to retire from the Titles.  Better luck next time.
