An Ambassador to Boxing NT and Australia Amature Boxing RIP

Boxing NT Inc send our condolences to Boyd Scullys family we would like to acknowledge this amazing Ambassador of Amateur Boxing in the NT and Nationally. He has truly been a Boxer of great passion for the sport of Boxing.  Boyd was a very dedicated President of the NT Boxing Association for 14 years and a Board Member with the Australian Boxing Federation for 15 years. The national body recognised his achievements, contribution and outstanding service to the sport by making him a Life Member in 2014, becoming the first Indigenous person to receive such award.

At 14 years old, he won the QLD paperweight title, and at 21 years old, claimed the NSW Junior Welterweight crown

 In 1956, Boyd represented Australia in the Olympic Games and was ranked No. 8 in the National Lightweight Champion for Queensland.

He was named in the NT Roll of Honours, was recognised as an Indigenous Legend by the NT NAIDOC Committee, was presented with an Australia Day Medal by the Queen, and was awarded an Australian Sport Medal in 2000.

Boyd dedicated his life to the NT community and certainly brought recognition to the NT throughout his boxing career.  Boyd Scully as a Boxing Coach, and Taminmin Boxing Club President and a member of the NT Boxing Inc Committee and a Star 1 Referee and Judge he has been a symbol, an icon, in words, actions and in the movement of Boxing for Boxing NT to many of Australian and NT Boxers past and present. Boxing will not forget these champions.
